"High paying" means nothing without the number it is high against, so here it is: the median annual wage across all American jobs was $50,980 in May 2025.
Every occupation in this campaign pays more than that and none of them is assigned a bachelor's degree by BLS. Air traffic controllers: $148,080, associate degree. Commercial pilots: $123,220, high school diploma. Nuclear power reactor operators: $122,890, high school diploma. Elevator installers: $109,910.
Seven jobs that appear on almost every "no degree tech jobs" list do require one. Network and computer systems administrators, computer network architects, information security analysts, web developers, web and digital interface designers, computer programmers and database administrators are all assigned a bachelor's degree by BLS. You will find them named in their own section below, because if you are going to skip the degree you need to know where it is still the price of entry.

The entry-education column is not ordered by pay. The highest-paid occupation here takes an associate degree; the second and third take a high school diploma; several in the middle take a certificate. More school does not monotonically mean more money. This is the opposite of what almost everyone is told.
