What the work is worth. The power grid, medical devices, electric vehicles, and every phone in every pocket are electrical engineering. This work is the nervous system of the modern world.
An ordinary day. Design circuits, power systems, sensors, and control systems; build and test prototypes; diagnose why a system does not behave as designed.
The path in. Bachelor's in electrical or electronics engineering.
From zero. The STEM Farm Energy / Utilities / Environmental Technology track starts at zero-STEM intake and ends in this kind of work, with verified proof at every gate.

STEM program interest inventory for middle school students. Module 1 of STEM Compass is an interest inventory of sixty STEM activities rated from would-hate-it to would-love-it. It is the strongest single predictor in the assessment, because love comes first and skill follows. A STEM program is a path to a career. Find the career that fits first, then the STEM Farm track that starts at zero and ends in that job with verified proof at every gate. Middle school is when interest in STEM is decided, usually by whether the subject ever got connected to a person a student could become.

The personality behind the work
- Abstract & Systems Thinking. You can hold an invisible system in your head — logic flows, data moving between parts, cause and effect you cannot see.
- Practicality. You are drawn to building functional things — physical or digital — that work in the real world.
- Detail Orientation. You remember complex facts and catch small errors before they become large ones.
- Spatial Reasoning. You picture three-dimensional objects, measurements, and physical forces easily.
- Persistence. You keep going through hours of troubleshooting. A problem that refuses to yield is a reason to stay, not a reason to leave.
- Numbers & Data Affinity. You like living in numbers, tables, and measurements; quantitative work feels natural.
- Meticulousness. You record exact notes and follow strict procedures without being told to.
