What the work is worth. Safer batteries, biodegradable plastics, and the drugs on a pharmacy shelf are chemistry. A chemist decides what the physical world is made of next.
An ordinary day. Analyze substances, synthesize new compounds and materials, run instrument tests, and document results with precision.
The path in. Bachelor's for lab and industry; master's or doctorate for research.
From zero. The STEM Farm Laboratory / Biotechnology / Life Sciences track starts at zero-STEM intake and ends in this kind of work, with verified proof at every gate.

The personality behind the work
- Meticulousness. You record exact notes and follow strict procedures without being told to.
- Detail Orientation. You remember complex facts and catch small errors before they become large ones.
- Inquiry. You ask deep questions about how the natural world works and you keep asking.
- Patience. You accept that real proof takes months or years of testing, and you can wait for it.
- Practicality. You are drawn to building functional things — physical or digital — that work in the real world.
- Persistence. You keep going through hours of troubleshooting. A problem that refuses to yield is a reason to stay, not a reason to leave.
- Curiosity. You want to find the hidden pattern in raw numbers. A pile of data is a mystery you want to solve.
