What the work is worth. The web is where most people meet an organization for the first time. A web developer builds the front door for clinics, schools, small businesses, and campaigns.
An ordinary day. Build and maintain websites and web apps, translate designs into working pages, fix layout and performance issues, and test across devices.
The path in. Associate's or bachelor's, or a self-taught portfolio; front-end work rewards demonstrated skill over credentials.
From zero. The STEM Farm Software / Web / QA / Automation track starts at zero-STEM intake and ends in this kind of work, with verified proof at every gate.

STEM major compatibility test for high school students. Compatibility is measured trait by trait: each career's score says which of your traits meet the role's demands and which the role would stretch. A STEM major is a four-year bet on a career you have not met yet. Find the career family that fits your profile first; the major follows from the education path on each career page. High school is early enough to choose classes and late enough that a working style is already visible.

The personality behind the work
- Adaptability. New tools, new languages, new rules do not throw you. You expect the ground to move and you enjoy relearning.
- Practicality. You are drawn to building functional things — physical or digital — that work in the real world.
- Persistence. You keep going through hours of troubleshooting. A problem that refuses to yield is a reason to stay, not a reason to leave.
- Abstract & Systems Thinking. You can hold an invisible system in your head — logic flows, data moving between parts, cause and effect you cannot see.
- Communication. You can turn a complex finding into a clear story for people who do not share your training.
- Detail Orientation. You remember complex facts and catch small errors before they become large ones.
