The Minneapolis–St. Paul–Bloomington, MN-WI area has grown steadily — 2.7% since 2020, or 100,034 more people. That is healthy growth, and the question it raises is who it reaches. Employers across Minnesota report unfilled STEM and skilled-trade openings that pay family-sustaining wages, while local students are told to wait their turn. Steady growth is exactly the condition in which routing matters most: the jobs are appearing, and whoever is credentialed when they appear gets them.
